When I first signed up to Twitter I wasn't sure why I'd done it or how I would use it; a common thought from the armies of people who say to me “Isn't it just facebook status updates?”. Luckily I didn't give up and after chatting to a few friends and seeing who they were following I decided to look at what I wanted to get out of it.
After following the customary number of celebrities, I followed anybody involved in web and graphic design in Manchester. This had been an excellent idea and after a few weeks I'd come across so much new information I could barely handle it. It had also given me the awareness of all the social meetups people like me were going to and introduced me to new people in the industry. I'm not sure quite what the future holds but if you're looking for some inspirational people to follow then check out who I stalk.
Lost At E Minor
Lost At E Minor is an awesome online magazine for creative people as well as people like me, who like to think they're creative! Featuring tonnes of quirky news from the world of art to websites to places, it's a good early morning read when you're looking to kick start the day. It's even inspired me to start up a project that will hopefully be coming this summer. And on top of all that, they have a really cool iPhone app.
Smashing Magazine
Smashing Magazine must be the best blog style website for designers and developers on the web. Chances are that you've visited the site many times but if you've not come across it then it's a must for anyone in this industry regardless of how high or low you are. A fantastic place for inspiration on almost any topic!

Yes, it's full of adverts but it's a great place to just look at brilliant little images and ideas that people have come up with. It shares the same concept of ffffound except you can register and I feel there's more of a variety of posts. I use both, but probably look more at imgfave for inspiration.
